About the event

The Bluegrass Blend began as a group of teenage friends who started a musical journey that has lasted over 40 years.  They have grown into a band that's performed over the entire eastern seaboard, from Florida to Maryland.  Noted for their tight harmonies, which they have honed over time, solid and clean playing, and interesting material, they are dedicated to bringing the audience an enjoyable sound with an entertaining spin to their presentation.  Two members, Kent Dowell on banjo and Rick Allred on mandolin had a 3 year stint with the award winning Country Gentlemen of Washington, D.C.taking the place of Doyle Lawson and James Bailey at the time.  With the Gentlemen, they toured the US, Canada and one tour of Sweden, Holland, Belgium, and Switzerland.  Also, they were very instrumental in recording 3 albums {Sit Down Young Stranger, Riverbottom, and Bluegrass..the Greatest Show on Earth}  After that they returned home to the Blend, where they took up where they had left off.  They adapted their musical style to tunes by the Everly Brothers, Gordon Lightfoot, and the Beatles to name a few, but never forgetting their love for straight forward driving traditional bluegrass tunes.  Along with lead singer and guitarist Garry Poole, a descendant of famed musical pioneer Charlie Poole, and accomplished acoustic bass player Robert Sprye, the Bluegrass Blend strives to give you just that...a bluegrass blend
